A Legacy of Literacy.

Our mission is to increase literacy for all children and adults by using The Spalding Method to develop skilled readers, critical listeners, and accomplished writers and spellers. Spalding Education International (SEI) is dedicated to teaching all students to spell, write and read. SEI is the home of The Writing Road to Reading, a comprehensive K-6 total language arts program.

The purpose for language arts standards is to ensure that all students develop the language skills they need to lead productive and fulfilling lives. Standards define the knowledge, concepts and skills that students should be taught at every grade level. Ideally, these standards should be challenging so that students are encouraged to attain a high level of achievement.

The Writing Road to Reading is a total language arts program that includes instruction in spelling, writing, and reading. It integrates content, principles, and procedures that empower teachers and parents to be successful decision makers, equipping them with the ability to help all students learn to read and write.

New for 2019: Online Learning Components

Spalding Education is expanding and improving the way it delivers training and certification in the Spalding Method within the 2-week onsite Reading Foundation Course (formally MILA I). We are adding to the traditional onsite training and certification for teachers by incorporating online access to resources and training material during the course, and access to the newly developed Spalding Resource Center (SRC).

Also new for 2019, Spalding Education will be running a limited pilot of a new Hybrid Training of the Reading Foundations Course. Instead of the traditional 2-week onsite course, the new Hybrid Training course will include full online learning and 5 days of onsite training.

The newly developed Spalding Resource Center will launch in August of 2019. It is a redevelopment and expansion of the current Teacher Resource Center (TRC). In addition, to current resources accessible in the TRC, the new SRC will include a library of 100s of videos, lessons, materials, and resources. Check out some samples of the videos below that are now available in the SRC!
